Our Team
Jonathan Wheler, Principal
Jonathan has over 30 years of broad-based experience in the real estate development industry, having held senior positions at both private and publicly listed real estate companies. Since 2003, he has focused exclusively on self-storage and is considered to be a pioneer of the industry in Canada.
Through Talus Capital Corp and its subsidiaries, StorageNOW and Spaces Self Storage, Jonathan has completed over one million square feet of ground-up, multi-story facilities, from Vancouver to Halifax. Today, the Talus team is primarily focused on developing self-storage within the urban market of Toronto.
Peter Obradovich, VP Acquisitions and Development
Peter has recently transitioned from an operations role with Spaces Self Storage to a development role with the parent company, Talus Capital Corporation. Leveraging his strong operational background, his primary responsibilities include sourcing new sites and facilitating the development process.
Peter has more than 13 years of experience in the self-storage industry, divided between a REIT and two privately held operators. A strong background in budgeting, team management, vertically integrated marketing and sales are hallmarks of that extensive experience. He is a member of the Self Storage Association of America Young Leaders Group, and, through Spaces, the Canadian Self Storage Association. He is a regular attendee at the SSA National Fall Conference, the CSSA Ontario Conference and the NYSSA Investment Forum. In his free time, Peter is pursuing wine accreditation via the Wine & Spirit Education Trust.
Sarah Verweij, VP Design & Construction
Sarah brings over 12 years of experience in construction management within commercial, institutional and residential sectors and has successfully completed $100 million of projects. Her experience working for a GC has been instrumental in shaping how she now manages construction projects for Talus Capital Corp.
Her extensive knowledge of construction along with her friendly approach to communication and management results in successful projects and strong cooperative working relationships. Sarah has moved from Vancouver back to her hometown of Toronto to join the Talus team and looks forward to building self-storage facilities and new relationships in Toronto.
